Louisiana - Welcome To Our Projects

Pilot Projects

Louisiana has hundreds of legacy orphan and abandoned oil & gas wells that can contribute to significant impacts on the environment through the emissions of harmful greenhouse gasses, as well as posing other challenges to landowners and communities.

The Well Done Foundation is excited to be working cooperatively with the State of  Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources Office of Conservation on four pilot projects, totaling 36 orphan wells, and we are just getting started!

Work on our Louisiana Pilots is set to begin in July 2021 and we are committed to plugging our first orphan well in Louisiana by the end of August 2021.

Well Done Projects require careful planning and thoughtful execution and no two orphan wells ever seem to be alike.

We have proven that by taking a “one well at a time” approach, working with our partners and volunteers, that we can make a real difference.

The Well Done Team is excited to be getting after it in Louisiana and applauds the Office of Conservation for their willingness to work together in a collaborative effort that delivers plugged orphan wells and remediated surface areas, #onewellatatime.
